garcinia cambogia extract results – Garcinia cambogia extract (GCE) comes out of a tropical fruit grown in India and Southeast Asia. The active ingredient was identified: hydroxycitric acid (HCA). It is said to block fat and curb the appetite. It inhibits a key enzyme, citrate lyase, that the body has to create fat. An independent analysis found that some manufacturers contain far less active ingredient than claimed. Consumers are advised to look for at least 50 percent GCE with potassium but with no fillers, binders, or artificial ingredients.

Dr. Oz urges
Dr. Oz urges that a dose of 500-1000 mg of Garcinia cambogia potassium prior to each meal. (Some experts believe the potassium salt is more powerful than other formulations.) He says to not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or in case you have Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, because it can worsen dementia. Oz contradicts himself he suggests it may produce weight loss without diet or exercise, yet he clearly recommends that it be used along with exercise and properly portioned meals.
The garcinia evidence
With Dr. Oz’s track record, I wasn’t ready to just accept his sentence for the wonders of Garcinia. I went to PubMed, where a hunt for hydroxycitric acid attracted up 64 posts. Some were irrelevant, and the relevant ones contained a lot of animal research and a smaller number of human studies with conflicting results.
Guinea pigs on a high cholesterol diet that were given a different Garcinia species (atriviridis) had a propensity to decrease lipid composition degrees and fat deposition in the aorta. HCA caused congenital defects in rats. Yet another rat study revealed it suppressed body fat accumulation but was toxic to the testes.
They remarked that the research all had methodological flaws, so these results could be on account of GIGO (garbage in/garbage out). How Can Garcinia Cambogia Work?
Studies on this topic either examine the fruit, garcinia cambogia, or a specific component inside the berry called (-)-hydroxycitric acid (henceforth just HCA). Most dietary supplements assert that ‘good’ garcinia supplements require 60% HCA by weight reduction.
Studies on animals (rats and mice) tend to all show the exact effects. HCA by itself or Garcinia cambogia with a large HCA material is able to decrease body weight fairly reliably. It reduces food intake and suppresses fat creation.
Researchers have also confirmed how HCA prevents fat production.

Simple answer, we’re humans.
When rats eat food they quite readily gain body fat, regardless of whether it’s carbs or fats, so the procedure for producing said fat is really significant; when it’s inhibited then the effects can be extreme.
When humans eat food, however, we have a tendency to store fat as fat and keep sugar as sugar. We can nevertheless create fat from nonfat sources naturally but the procedure is much more limited than in rats. It is more of an emergency button compared to the standard.
We use mice and rats as study models because they are not just economical but they’re pretty similar to people at the end of the day, however, ‘pretty similar’ means that we do have our metabolic differences. This is a major one.
Nonetheless, this isn’t to say that garcinia and HCA are unsuccessful in people. 1 study demonstrated benefits to the lipid profile of overweight girls and another time HCA slightly increased glycogen resynthesis after exercise. In addition, even if the range of weight reduction in the previously mentioned study was broader than the side of a barn it did suggest some weight reduction.

This is significant because we want to understand how garcinia works. Not garcinia and product X, just garcinia.
If someone makes a trial based on garcinia paired with a dietary fiber which reveals benefit all we can say is, “Seems garcinia along with the fiber show advantage jointly”; we can’t backtrack and use this as proof for garcinia functioning alone, though.
To use an analogy; in case nutmeg and eggnog taste good together you can not immediately make the conclusion a face full of nutmeg is going to taste just as amazing.
Ultimately, there is a known species difference between humans and rodents in regards to garcinia and HCA, and the evidence on HCA is very unconvincing and strangely rare given the popularity of the fruit.
So, the most important thing is that garcinia cambogia can help rats and mice eliminate fat, but it does not seem to work nicely (if at all) for individuals.
Now, I really don’t think we can reliably say if Garcinia includes a clinically relevant advantage over simple calorie reduction and exercise. It appears to be secure, and it might have a part in helping patients lose weight by helping motivation and enlisting placebo effects.
Dr. Oz’s popularity is enduring, but diet fads are not. I confidently anticipate another “miracle” to supplant Garcinia in the Land of Oz at the long run.
