Together with Dr. Oz’s track record, I was not willing to just accept his sentence for those marvels of Garcinia. I went to PubMed, where a search for hydroxycitric acid attracted up 64 posts. Some were irrelevant, and the relevant ones included a great deal of animal studies and a smaller quantity of human studies with conflicting results.
Guinea pigs to a high cholesterol diet that were given another Garcinia species (atriviridis) had a tendency to decrease lipid composition degrees and fat deposition in the aorta. How Can Garcinia Cambogia Work?

Simple answer, we’re humans.

When humans eat meals, but we tend to store fat as fat and store sugar as glucose. We can nevertheless create fat out of nonfat resources of course but the procedure is a lot more limited than in rats. It is more of a crisis button than the norm.
We use rats and mice as study models since they are not only cheap but they’re quite similar to people in the end of the day, however, ‘fairly similar’ implies that we do have our metabolic alterations. This is a significant one.

At this point, I really don’t think we can reliably say if Garcinia has a clinically relevant advantage over easy calorie reduction and exercise. It appears to be secure, and it might have a role in helping patients lose weight by helping motivation and enlisting placebo effects.
Dr. Oz’s popularity is lasting, but diet fads aren’t. I expect another “miracle” to supplant Garcinia in the Land of Oz at the long run.
